“There is nothing quite like the heart-stopping beauty and power of a four-metre long tiger shark gliding towards you out of the dark, or the unmistakable silhouette of a whale shark from below,” said Hanli Prinsloo to journalist Tammy Sutherns. As 11 times South African free-diving record holder, Hali has a unique connection to our oceans, one which she is doing her best to share.
As one of the founder members of the I Am Water Ocean Conservation Trust, Hali is also a long time supporter of Grahamstown based charity, the Sustainable Seas Trust (SST). From April 14 to May 9, the SST, will be making waves at 15 coastal South Africa towns, all in the name of our oceans. Partnering with the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA), the SAMSA SEA Pledge Saldanha to Sodwana Tour will focus on education, poverty alleviation and marine conservation as the SST runs beach activities for the public.
Hanli will be sharing her gift of storytelling with SST and aiding them in the Western Cape section of the tour, where she’ll address dignitaries, mayors and politicians on the importance of caring for our blue world.
A guest appearance from such an influential and driven person like Hanli will add one of the special touches sure to make this upcoming tour an amazing one.
