SST holiday club kicked off on Tuesday the 06th of October with a few crafts, followed by English enrichment from Kariega Project and then painting, in the Kenton Town Hall.
On Wednesday it was time for a Camera & Shore explore outing to Middle beach coupled with a safety at sea lesson with the children. On the walk to Kariega Beach we were accompanied by a film crew from Rhodes University. On the walk there was also a lesson about pollution, highlighting that not everything needs to go into a dust bin and motivating the children to keep our beaches clean and leave only their footprints at the beach and take home what they brought with them. At Kariega Beach, Zandile Nqokoqwane (Environment
Education Officer for Ndlambe Municipality welcomed the children and offered and a rocky shore lesson where kids identified some of the animals they saw on the walk from Middle Beach on a poster at the Kariega Blue Flag beach education centre.
Thursday was again an outdoor day when the children explored Bushman's beach and evaluated the differences between the three beaches they visited. A short Conserve Water lesson was coupled with a visit to the Amatola water plant.
On Friday the final touches were added to crafts, followed by English Enrichment lessons followed by Educational and team building games.
A special thank you goes to Daphne McNeil, Marian Rousseau, Fundiswa Fihlani, Adri Moller and Vuyokazi Voko & Kariega Project volunteers for their English enrichment resources.
