The current situation is that Sustainable Seas Trust and its SEACC partners have been offered land on which to build SEAS Centres at sites along the Eastern Cape and KZN Coasts. Architects have visited the three hectare site at the village of Hamburg at the mouth of the Keiskamma Estuary.
The architects are preparing plans and a model for use in SEAS Centres specific fund raising. A multi-disciplinary team of researchers (in science, agriculture, economics, sociology), educators and anthropologists are currently working on the development of the SEAS Centres model with a view to using Hamburg as the first custom built SEAS Centres. In the interim, the educational, skills training and development of employment opportunities is being provided within existing buildings owned by partner organizations.
