Fun in the schools programme
There was much excitement as learners from Kenton, Klipfontein and Nompucuko Primary schools were introduced to exploring the coastal and estuarine environment in Kenton, Bushman's and Kwaaihoek as citizen scientists.
The Klipfontein Education Support Group continued with their established weekly Saturday outings and learnt about recycling from Mark Price of Integrated Waste and Recycling Services (IWARS), a specialist waste company, before tackling the river that runs into the vlei at Klipfontein. The hands-on river and community clean-up effort yielded 13 bags of litter in less than a half a kilometre.
