African Maritime Domain Conference 2014

Organised by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), at the request of the African Union (AU) and in partnership with the South African government and the International Ocean Institute – Southern Africa (IOI-SA).
The AMD 2014 conference will provide delegates with a global perspective of the maritime sector and an opportunity to interact with acknowledged experts on topics such as responsible ocean governance, the blue economy, human resource development for the maritime sector in Africa, integrated maritime strategies and policies, etc. During the breakaway sessions delegates will have an opportunity to ask questions such as: how should we prepare ourselves for the future, what are the barriers to growth, how do we develop our competitive advantage, how should we govern our own local maritime domain, etc.
The three-day AMD 2014 Conference at the Boardwalk ICC is free and includes the ‘Meet and Greet’ welcome reception and cocktail function on Sunday evening 9th November at the Boardwalk Hotel and also the Wärtsilä Gala Dinner at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
