Food for Thought conference 2015

Sustainable Seas Trusts CEO, Dr Tony Ribbink, was invited as a speaker to address the 2015 Food for Thought conference at the Cape Town International Conference Centre. (CTICC).

Dr Ribbink was the lead panelist for the theme - FISHING FOR TOMORROW: Sustainable fishing - panel discussion with Prof Moenieba Isaacs, Christian Adams, Chris Kastern and Michael Marriott.

Food For Thought Conference ImageEighty percent of global seafood stocks are currently over-exploited or totally fished out, yet in recent years seafood become the most traded global food commodity. The decline in seafood stocks has significant business implications and action needs to be taken to preserve these stocks to avoid the collapse of industries as well as eco-systems. This session brings some of SA’s major retailers, seafood suppliers, and conservation organisations together to address the challenges and look at solutions that are sustainable for business, the fishermen and the environment.
