The SOUTH AFRICAN SHARK CONSERVANCY (SASC) is a registered non-profit company committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of marine resources through research, education & awareness. Our dedicated team of scientists, conservationists & volunteers work with a global network of academic, governmental & non-governmental organizations to help produce realistic marine conservation & management recommendations. SASC also provides specialist consulting in the fields of fisheries management, marine biodiversity conservation, resource management and development, capacity building, impact assessments, and education. The WHALE COAST CETACEAN PROJECT aims to gain a thorough understanding of how whales and dolphins use the Pearly Beach to De Kelders area of the Cape Whale Coast in the hope that this knowledge will be used to develop an adequate conservation plan for this precious and unique place. This PhD study is the first of its kind in South Africa. The SHARK BAY RESEARCH TRUST was founded earlier this year by Chris Perkins, Kim MacLean, and Robert Benjamin. Dedicated to conducting ground-breaking research on the great white sharks and changing the public perception of this incredibly misunderstood species. It is currently working with Sharklady Adventures to learn more about the acoustic perception of white sharks and to help teach the guests of Sharklady Adventures about the animal which they have just dove with. BIENTANG'S WHALE WATCH CENTRE is the first of its kind on the continent of Africa and is situated overlooking the only whale sanctuary to be found on the shores of the African continent. It provides a focal point for discovering more about whales and dolphins before or after a whale-watching trip, whether it be a boat based or a land based whale-watching excursion. READ MORE
