Trust Sustainability Films

Trust Sustainability Films is presently focusing on development of films which portray the relationship of coastal people to their environment. By fostering healthy relationships with local coastal communities, never asserting preconceptions, but spending adequate time in the field to fully understand the issues at hand, Trust Sustainability Films aims to produce informative, well-researched films that empower communities and engender a responsibility for the conservation of South African coastlines. They address key socio-political issues, balancing the needs of rural coastal communities with the goals of protecting and rehabilitating marine life.
There are many ongoing projects. Educational and training films are a key focus, with a view to promoting understanding and fostering adaptation. Films in Hamburg and in the Tshani/ Coffee Bay area have been produced, and work will continue in these areas. Also, with the valued help of Christo Van Jaarsveld, a talented underwater cameraman and film-maker, we have a considerable resource of underwater footage. Trust Sustainability Films consists of a team of people with skills in camera-work, scripting, producing and editing, and animation facilities are presently being installed. The team is consistently on the search for more film projects that fulfill the ideals and goals of The Sustainable Seas Trust.
